Various hiking trails in the valley and on the Gastein mountains invite you to explore the winter landscape. All paths are well prepared and marked so that nothing stands in the way of your off-piste winter experience. Snowshoe hiking is becoming more and more popular. No wonder. It is a sport that can be practiced by anyone without any previous knowledge. Walking through the winter wonder landscape of the Gastein Valley, far away from the throngs of tourist, has an almost meditative effect, is fun and feels so good! Enjoy deep snow-covered meadows and reach unique views into untouched landscapes. Alone or in a group … During the winter months, guided snowshoe hikes can be made in Angertal, Fulseck and Graukogel. Using the right technique and together with a group, it is much easier to hike. A special experience is the guided snowshoe hike along the snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein: in small groups you hike from Fulseck via the Arltörl to the middle station. The snowshoes can be rented in the ski rental stores right next to the Aktivhotel Gasteiner Einkehr. Velocity can not only be found on the slopes but also on the tobogganing runs of Gastein. Put on your winter clothes, bring along sturdy shoes, pack up your sled, and off you go on a fun toboggan ride. It doesn’t require much experience to glide downhill with the toboggan. But caution is still required. Drive only so fast in order to be able to brake in time, and wearing a helmet should be a must. Then nothing stands in the way of the pleasure of sledding.

Two natural toboggan runs will allow rapid fun during your holidays – the natural toboggan run Aeroplan on the Schlossalm (3.3 km) and the natural toboggan run Bellevue Alm (2.5 km). And those who haven’t powered out thoroughly during the day or fancy an outing in the evening can also go tobogganing at night on the flood-lit run.

No matter if you are a beginner or an experienced athlete Рin Gastein everybody finds his perfect track. With over 35 kilometres of cleared and perfectly prepared trails, Gastein is a paradise for cross-country skiers in the ski world Amad̩. The guests of the Gastein Valley can use free of charge the cross-country trails. Courses are offered in the Gastein cross-country schools and cross-country skiers can rent the appropriate equipment directly there.

Also in the evening you can enjoy the cross-country ski run in Kurpark of Bad Hofgastein or on the floodlit run Bad Gastein-Böckstein. In spring, a high altitude cross-country ski run at 1600 meters in Sportgastein attracts visitors with guaranteed snow.

• Kurparkloipe: 1,5 km, easy trail, artificial snow and floodlight till 9 o’clock in the evening, Laser Biathlon.
• Sportplatzloipe: 2,5 km, easy trail.
• Achenloipe: 4 km, easy to medium.
• Angertalloipe: 3,25 km & 6,5 km, medium.

Cross-country trails in Dorfgastein:

• Dorfgasteiner Loipe: 2,9 km, easy to medium.

Cross-country trails in Bad Gastein/Sportgastein:

• Böcksteiner Loipe: at 1.100 meters, 5,5 km, easy trail, floodlight till 9 o’clock in the evening.
• Sportgastein Loipen: at 1.600 meters, 1,7 km, 2,4 km & 5,1 km with different difficulty levels
